So since I have cut my hair I have had people ask me WHY! Why did I cut my hair? To be quite honest, I have been wanting to cut my hair since August 2016 but really never had the guts to actually do it. I finally decided to cut my hair and stop being so scary.. what the hell! It's hair! It will grow back! Hey, if I don't like it I can get my sister to make me a wig! Yes, my sister makes wigs y'all. Check her out @chassidymayo on IG! Her company is called Natural Effects! She's pretty bad ass at making some bomb wigs! Okay, back to the topic. I did so much research before cutting my hair. Read horror stories and all. Even the day of this transformation I was nervous! Especially because as women, our hair is KNOWN to be our comfort zone. And there I was....cutting it all away! Imagine having a bad hair day and not being able to just throw it in a bun or ponytail. Yeah, welcome to my life. However, there are some pros that come with going short. People actually have to pay more attention to your facial features. Before I cut my hair I thought I would have to wear makeup everyday to make up for my lack of hair. HA, wrong! I still walk around bare face everyday lol. All jokes aside, it does make me self conscious sometimes because I fear that some men don't like women that rock the short do, HOWEVER, I love the fact that I cut my hair!
Some of the positives that came with going short is that it helped with your self confidence. You have nothing to hide behind. No hair to use as your comfort zone. It's just your face and features! Your beautiful face! Which in reality, it has helped a lot with growing confidence in myself. I actually love going short. I do reminisce on having weave and long hair sometimes, don't get me wrong. HOWEVER, I haven't thought about letting my hair grow back since I've cut it. It teaches you a lot about yourself. Someone told me that you are on a spiritual journey when you cut your hair. So maybe that's what it is. And I love it! If I could go back I would do it again. I have no regrets! Well maybe besides the fact that I feel like I look like a little boy from time to time... Just kidding!
Now there are some cons to going short. You think you can never have a bad hair day.. well you can. You can't just throw your hair into a ponytail or bun, but you actually have to do something to your hair. My go to is the slick hair look. That's my favorite when Im having bad hair days. Another con with going short is hair maintenance. Very High! You have to at least get a cut every 3 weeks. Really 2 weeks, but if you can maintain it for 3 weeks then I would say go for it. More money in your pocket! I haven't had my hair cut since March.. I've been rocking the tapered fro look for a while so as my hair grows it looks great with the look I'm attempting. However, if you are rocking the short pixie look keeping your hair trimmed is a must! Honestly those are the only cons that I've came across since I've cut my hair. Well that I have encountered so far! So if you're thinking about going short, I say go for it. YOLO. You only have one life and its hair..HAIR WILL GROW BACK!
