An Ode To My Grandmother

10 years ago today,

God took you away.

Wow!

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years

A whole decade!

I remember it like it was yesterday

My junior year in high school, remember it clear as day

I wish you could have seen me walk that stage

I wish you could have seen me graduate and start a new page

But I know you were there in spirit

Looking high and smiling low

I hope you are happy

And that I am making you proud

I know I didn’t take the normal route

That route of college was not what I’m about

Because I knew there was more

There was more that I was destined for

Because hey grandma, guess what?

My goal is to be on TV

Oh just wait and you’ll see!

I hope you are happy

And I hope you are proud

Grandma, you would be so proud of all your grandchildren and great grandchildren

Everyone is flourishing

Flourishing into kind men

And lovely women

I hope you are happy

And I hope you are proud

I cherish the days spent by your side

Knowing our love is eternal,

It can never hide

Absence make the heart grow fonder, that is what they say

But with you gone life is just a little gray

God had other plans

and didn’t let you stay

He couldn’t bear to see you ill

So he took you away

I miss you dearly, Mary Eliza Mozell better known as our "Madea"

And I can't wait to see you some day again!

This is something short and sweet to reminisce your passing 10 years ago today,

I know you are smiling down at us so everything is okay!

-Love your granddaughter Alexus Mozell
